Chief Executive Officer September 2025 - Present
Max serves as Chief Executive Officer of Humphreys Capital and a member of the Investment Committee of each fund. He joined the firm in September 2025, bringing decades of experience in corporate finance, energy, and private equity–backed ventures.
After beginning his career with Westar Energy, Max advanced to Managing Director of Corporate Development & Investor Relations, including four years in France overseeing international investments. He later joined OGE Energy Corp. as Treasurer and Head of Corporate Development, where he led M&A initiatives that culminated in the creation of Enable Midstream, a large publicly traded midstream company that was later purchased by Energy Transfer.
In 2013, Max co-founded Tall Oak Midstream, a natural gas midstream company backed by private equity. Over the next decade, he and his partners built and sold three Tall Oak entities with a combined value of more than $2 billion. As Co-Founder and CFO, he led financing, investor relations, M&A, and shared overall company management.
Beyond his professional work, Max is active in civic and community leadership. He serves as Vice Chair of Allied Arts OKC (and will serve as Chair from 2026–2028), is a parishioner at St. John’s Church in Edmond, and sits on several boards, including Infinity Capital, Sherwood Construction, and the Dean McGee Eye Foundation. He is also a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma, Class 23.
Max earned a B.S. in Business Administration (1996) and an MBA in Finance (1997) from the University of Kansas, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi.
An avid outdoorsman, Max enjoys hunting and spending time with family and friends. He and his wife, Janie, have two sons and reside in Edmond, OK.
